The Vinciguerra Glacier and the Laguna de los Témpanos (Iceberg Lagoon) form one of the most stunning landscapes in Ushuaia, combining into a single day all the scenarios that define Southern Patagonia: peat valleys, meltwater rivers, subantarctic forests, and an ancient glacier that still withstands the passage of time. The experience begins with a transfer from your accommodation and, after a short drive, the hike towards the valley begins. The trail makes its way through wet and muddy terrain, with roots and logs that demand balance and attention, crossing steep sections within the forest. As you ascend, the landscape becomes more imposing, revealing snow-covered mountains and an environment where nature is displayed in its purest form. After about three hours of trekking, you will reach Laguna de los Témpanos, whose icy waters reflect the bluish tones of the glacier that unfolds behind it. After a well-deserved rest, the most exciting part begins: the Ice Trekking on the Vinciguerra Glacier, equipped with crampons, a helmet, and poles. Led by professionals, participants explore crevasses, ice formations, and caves, living a unique experience on one of the most accessible ice masses at the end of the world. The return is along the same trail, with your spirit recharged by nature and wonder. Recommended to bring: trekking boots (not sneakers), warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a medium-sized backpack.
